![]() ![]() ![]() This Callaway golf GPS watch comes preloaded with 30,000 courses worldwide. The satellites remained connected after they were first located. More importantly, the distances were consistently correct. It was always 1 yard within the distances recorded by our Bushnell laser rangefinder. So you can pretty much play hands-free and still get all the basic yardages. It also advances through holes automatically. When switched on and navigate to the Golf mode, the GPSy golf GPS watch takes a minute to lock into the satellites and display a list of recognized courses nearby. Knowing this will help select the right club for future shots. In the Shot distance mode, you can measure and save the shot distances for each swing. The top left corner shows the par information and hole number. The bottom line shows battery status and time. The distance to the front and back of the greens is in a smaller font next to it. In the middle line, to the left, you have a small schematic of the greens with the hole position. On the top right corner, you have the distance to the center of the greens in a large font. GPSy displays yardages in a very appealing format. It magnetically attaches to the four dots on the left side of the watch. – Yardages: This golf watch comes with a magnetic charging dock. However, they may look huge on petite wrists. – Charger: The Callaway Golf GPSy is available in two colors: All black and a white/neon green combination. This is not a touchscreen device like Garmin S6. – Options: It’s sunlight-readable at all light levels. The display is negative with white characters on a black screen. There are magnetic dots on the side for charging. There are three navigation buttons on the right edge and a power button on the left. While it’s large enough, we think it could have utilized more space on the watch face. It shouldn’t be submerged in water though. This is a water-resistant watch and can take water splashes. The watch band will fit wrists of all sizes. The strap has a horizontal pattern which gives it a nice rugged look. We expected it to be heavy but it never impeded our swing. It runs 10 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. More feedback to come when I get more on course action.Although slightly clunky, you can easily get used to the design of GPSy. The dock that is given to charge it could be a bit bigger and more sturdy, but overall it is alright. ![]() Battery life while using the GPS drains quickly, but life mode lasts a long time. I charged it up when I got it in February and it lasted until this weekend on 1 charge (that includes a full round of golf). The only issue I ran into was accidentally closing out the round and having to re-do the process of starting the course over again several times. The GPS takes about 5 second to recognize the course that you are on, which seems to be pretty fast for me. With 4 buttons on the device, one power button on the left and 3 directional buttons on the right, I haven't had an issue getting to a screen I wanted very quickly. The screens are super easy to navigate and quite large, so it doesn't tax the eyes and necessitate a ton of concentration to see what you are looking at. The measurements are very accurate, as would be expected from an GPS unit at this price. It doesn't cause sweating or anything like that. Not one time during my initial round and range session did I want to take it off. The fact of the matter is, it didn't hinder my swing one bit. I made all the excuses as to why it wouldn't work. I thought it would get in the way of my glove. It seemed a little cumbersome, a little heavy. This is coming from someone who hates having so much as an elastic wristband on my wrist when I play. Here's some in hand pictures of the white version that will be used for this review (ignore the hairy wrists). It is available in black and white/green/gray.
